LIGHT TO THE PRISONS MINISTRIES

Our Roots

Light to the Prisons Ministries began officially in 1994, although Pastor Jon Hendry has been doing Prison Meetings in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan since 1985. At first, Pastor Jon only volunteered at Marquette Branch Prison, but soon after was a regular at Cousineau Prison also. Then Pastor Jon volunteered at Alger Max, Baraga Max and Newberry Prison also. There was also a season of service at Ojibway. Currently all volunteer work is suspended at the prisons due to the Governors mandate over Covid 19. As soon as the Prisons open up to volunteers Pastor Jon is looking forward to serving again at some of these institutions. The sign to your left was made by Leon and Charlotte Snyder of Rock Michigan. For many years Charlotte sang in the prisons at Pastor Jon's meetings.
